Headset Code Explained

Upper Cup - 

IS - (Integrated Headset) This is where the bearings sit directly in the headtube without the use of cups.

42 - The internal diameter of the upper headtube in mm.

28.6 - The diameter in mm of the upper section of the fork steerer tube, also known as 1-⅛”.

Lower Cup - 

IS - (Integrated Headset) This is where the bearings sit directly in the headtube without the use of cups.

52 - The internal diameter of the lower headtube in mm.

40 - The diameter in mm of the lower section of the fork steerer tube, also known as 1.5”.

The full name of headset now reads IS42/28.6 | IS52/40.

Upgraded titanium coated stainless bearings for superior wear and corrosion resistance with reduced friction, which extends bearing life. 

Comprehensive upper and lower weather seals to protect the headset internals.

Stack Height - 8.5mm + 1mm = 9.5mm 

Supplied with our ‘Always Flatout’ designs CNC alloy stem top cap. Compression nut and stainless headset bolt.
